Primary and Secondary Resources

What is a primary resource? What is a secondary resource

A primary source is a first hand account of an event or original research. For example, newspaper reports, datasets, survey data, art, census information, or media that records an event including speeches and interviews.

A secondary resource is a step away from a primary resource. For example, books, summaries of data, scholarly articles that do not include original research, and documentaries.
